5 Benefits to our Breakfast Club!

At School of Play, we are aware that choosing the right childcare for parents/carers is of extreme importance.

We offer a service to ensure that every child in our care is happy, safe, and valued as an individual.

We offer our wraparound care to children from 3 to 11 years old and provide an exciting range of super fun activities and experiences.

With the new Covid-19 Restrictions, we are keeping our bubbles of children separate but are still able to offer all of our usual activities in our nurturing and creative environment to ensure kids go to school and return home feeling happy and stress-free!

  1. Positive start to the day

Children struggle to concentrate when they are tired or hungry so providing them with a good breakfast and stress-free morning can be beneficial with beginning a positive mindset for the school day ahead.

Eating a good breakfast in the morning wakes up the brain, improves concentration, reduces irritability, and gives a child a stable routine for the rest of the day.

We provide opportunities for the kids to make small choices within their day. For example, we give them a choice between specific fruits for breakfast or between specific healthy cereals. Starting the day off with this little choice gives the children the confidence to continue making their own choices throughout the school day.

Eating around other children can be beneficial for kids who may be fussy eaters or struggle eating in new/different atmospheres, as they feel their peers, as well as our staff, support them through this, thanks to the environment we are able to create.

Not only is our Breakfast Club beneficial for kids, but it also provides time for parents who may need to leave earlier for work or who have rushed mornings. By sending your children to a breakfast club, it may be that it gives you those few extra moments you need in a morning for yourself, or allow you to get to work on time, whilst also knowing that your child is receiving a good breakfast and some stress-free and rush-free time with qualified child care staff before gently transitioning into their school day.

There is a lot of scientific evidence to show that if we start our day in a positive manner, it has a beneficial effect on our decision making, productivity, and how we feel for the rest of the day.

  • Noticeably Reduced Anxiety/Stress

Studies show that Breakfast Clubs can be especially beneficial for children who suffer from socially induced anxiety or children who tend to be wary of meeting new people as it develops their confidence.

Our Breakfast Club at School of Play gives children the chance to work with fully qualified members of staff who are there to gently nudge the children into making their own decisions and assist them in seeing it through till the end. This builds up their confidence gradually and we often see a massive improvement with this after a short period with us.

  • Improved Behavior/Results at School

With our wraparound care, giving the children a chance to access activities at their own pace and make their own independent choices, they become more likely to think about how their behavior may affect their chance to make these decisions within their school lives. Often there are positive benefits seen in general behavioral patterns in and out of school for kids who are given a chance to experience decision making for themselves with the positive support of nurturing staff to give them that extra little bit of support.

  • Developing Independence

Developing Independence is massively important to a child’s general progression at school and in later life. Breakfast Clubs allow children to access activities at their own pace and make independent choices in a social setting.

It gives children the chance to work with fully qualified members of staff who are there to gently nudge the children into making their own decisions and assist them in seeing it through till the end. This builds up their confidence gradually and we often see a massive improvement with this after a short period at Breakfast and After School Clubs.

  • Routine

Routine is something that can sometimes be taken for granted as being important to a child’s development, but it is proven that when a child has a predictable daily routine they are reminded they are in a stress-free and caring environment as there are no sudden shocks or disruptions. Whilst disruption is unfortunately impossible to avoid in a daily routine and sometimes can be significantly harder with kids, it is proven that trying to stick to a routine will improve a child’s general behavior and also allow them to feel more at ease with their daily situation, which can sometimes be stressful for young children.

If you feel like any of these points may benefit you or your child, then we would love to hear from you, and if you are a parent whose child has already attended one of our wraparound care programmes and has experienced any development since joining, then please get in touch as we would love to receive your feedback!
